Going HomeThis was the largest canvas I have worked on to date, and to help with the scale, I broke the painting into sections. I did the sky first, focusing on colour, and line shape and direction to create movement. Then I added in dragons and stars. Next, I created the building by starting with a silhouette and adding highlights and shadows to create form. Finally, I added trees and foliage using a fan brush to create texture and dab in colours. I wanted to create something whimsical and experiment with gradient colours without blending. I’m happy with how it turned out. |
