Silas Kaufman
Sessional Instructor, Visual Communications
My name is Silas Kaufman and I am an illustrator and teacher at the Alberta University of the Arts in Canada. I have worked with the University of Calgary, Alberta Views Magazine, as well as various small business clients, and have been twice included in the American Illustration Annual. At one time I did teach at maximum security prison, but I’m not allowed to talk about it.
My work is inspired by my love of people, music, sport, and film, as well as improv theatre.
When I’m not with enthusiastic students, I can be found in my studio drawing, boxing, throwing darts, whittling blocks of wood with my son or duelling to the death. If I keep practising guitar someday I will know how to play it.
