Brent Smith

Educational Art Technician, Visual Communications

Brent Morley Smith is a Calgary-based photographer who documents the more ordinary, unpronounced moments of life.

A black-and-white portrait of a man with short dark hair and a mustache, wearing a work-style jacket with visible stitching. He has a neutral expression and is looking directly at the camera against a plain white background.

With an interest in artist publications, he often exhibits his photographs in self-published print projects – paired with prose, which together recount a span of time.

Brent studied Photography and Art History at Concordia University in Montréal. Alongside his studies he was the editor of a Concordia Arts publication, Interfold – and interned at an artist-run book bindery, BookArt. He works as the Educational Art Technician for the School for Communication Design at AUArts.
