Cat Skull Drawing
This is a realistic drawing of a cat skull on black paper, using white chalk. By manipulating a number of layers of chalk applied to different bones of the cat skull, I created different tones of color and depicted shadows and highlights on the skull. The various tones of color helped shape the cat skull’s realistic three-dimensional form on 2-dimensional paper. I also used a tissue to blend out tones and to smoothen the outline of the cat skull, contributing to the realistic form. Additionally, I have used the rule of thirds to bring the people's attention to the left eye orbit to balance out the main object, the cat skull, with the negative space around it, creating an appealing composition.
