Era of ProgressThis painting takes place in the early 20th century, inspired by the Fauvism art movement that happened around that time with signature bright colours and broad sweeping brushstrokes. The painting depicts an industrialized city street, with electric wires, lights and a car as the main subject, which were becoming increasingly popular modes of transport at the time. The car is mainly based off of a 1929 model of Chevrolet. I am very interested in early 20th century history and learning about the Fauvism art movement gave me an opportunity to blend my two interests together into one piece. |
