DragonfliesWith this artwork, I turned the camera towards myself and really thought about how I'd like to be depicted. Did I want to look bold? Elegant? Dramatic? Everything I tried seemed unnatural. Once I stopped forcing myself to pose, the rest of the composition came naturally. I reinterpreted the traditional sense of a fairy to enhance surrealist interest, but also because I find the extra set of wings on dragonflies fascinating. Finally, the complex and contrasting nature of my character is represented by immense delicate detailing and the interplay between green and pink -culminating in something much more authentic. |
