For PapiFor Papi: my father’s parents died a couple of years ago, and I wanted to make something to commemorate them as well as be a gift for him, something that hopefully might make him feel better. A linocut print of all three of them at my dads high school graduation, sewed into my grandparents duvets that my dad brought back from Venezuela after the last funeral that, luckily, i cut pieces of hastily before he threw them away, and a quote from a dream my mom had where my abuelos asked her to tell my dad that they were okay. I love my dad, i love both my parents— and i hate the thought of losing them— so this is my way of trying to help him get through it and grieve. It’s for my papi. |
