Those Summer Evenings

Shot on Fujifilm 200 Colour Negative film with my dad’s Nikon F-401x, this photograph was taken during my favourite time of year in my favourite place. Late August in British Columbia’s Gulf Islands often consists of picking black berries on the side of the road, homemade dinners, and of course, meandering evenings along the water. With this photo, I wanted to encapsulate the feeling of those summers and what this place means to me. I think film creates this really beautiful, timeless snapshot of a moment in time, building this nostalgic atmosphere. This, combined with the nature of film that allows for only one chance to capture your desired moment, meant that film photography was the clear choice to preserve this beautiful evening.
