The Wheeler Hut Expedition: Artists of the 21st Century explore mountain habitats

Various Artists

The Wheeler Hut Expedition took place over seven days in late August 2000. Six artists: Dianne Bos, Diane Colwell, Patricia Deadman, Ernie Kroeger, Craig Richards, Harry Vandervlist, participated in a remarkable adventure, a creative laboratory, centered at the Alpine Club of Canadas's Wheeler Hut, located in the Rogers Pass region of Glacier National Park. This use of the 19th century traditional arts expedition mode, which historically places artists in the field together for a short time and then returns them to their solitary practice, has provided an extraordinary opportunity for artistic inspiration. The artists of The Wheeler Hut Expedition work in such varied practices as poetry and essay as well as traditional camera and pinhole technologies.
