Heatwave

This group exhibition showcases the work of 15 local artists as they complete their 2024 AUArts Summer Residency program.

Experience Heatwave: a surge of collective creative energy that comes from a high concentration of artistic expression and vigorous activity.

The AUArts Summer Residency allows artists to use Alberta University of the Arts facilities to create and further develop their practice. This year, 15 artists worked for nine weeks, and although they come from diverse backgrounds and work within a variety of mediums, one thing they all have in common is the energy they bring to their work.

Heatwave showcases the transformative power of this passion, not only on the canvas, clay, cloth and even code with which the artists work but also on the space within which their work exists. The exhibition invites viewers to experience the energetic pulse of creativity that has permeated the residency, leaving a lasting impression on all who engage with it. It is a testament to the potential of artistic dedication and the enduring impact of creative fervor.
