Event

18 Sep 2023

1 to 2 p.m.

RM 340 - Stanford Perrott Lecture Theatre

In conversation with AUArts alum Geoff McFetridge

This event is for AUArts students, faculty and staff.

Geoff McFetridge does many things extremely well. Even if you don’t know his name, it’s likely you have experienced his work in film (Where the Wild Things Are, The Virgin Suicides), fashion (Nike, Vans, Hermès), technology (Apple), publishing (The New York Times, Paris Review), and music (OK GO, Death Cab for Cutie). You may have contemplated his paintings and drawings exhibited internationally in private and public collections for over two decades. “Prolific” or “award-winning” doesn’t cover it. He’s created a singular career in multiple media that blurs and bridges the boundaries between the commercial and non-commercial.

How does he do it all?

Join Geoff as he talks about his career, creative process, and time he went to art, craft and design school. This one!

The documentary Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life is about Calgary-born graphic artist Geoff McFetridge (Dip ’93, VCD) and will open the Calgary International Film Festival. Any ticket holders can attend the post-screening reception, subject to capacity, at Eau Claire Theatre 5 on September 21 at 7:30 p.m.
