In her teen years, she moved to Leduc where she was heavily involved in the Leduc Arts Foundry around the time of its founding. Tanya later moved to Calgary to complete her formal arts education at Alberta University of the Arts where she dabbled in Drawing and Painting before settling on a major in Jewellery and Metals. Her arts education has permitted her practice in a variety of mediums including, but not limited to: Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber Arts, Jewellery and Metals, Painting, and Photography. Tanya’s art comes from many influences, including but not limited to the self, expression of the self, the self in relationship with nature, and the self within the community. Her craft work is based in historical techniques. In her spare time, she is a knitting instructor, avid gallery goer, and community supporter. She was also appointed as the Jewellery and Metals Department Representative for 2023-2024 before being elected as President of the AUA Students' Association for the 2024-2025 term.
