A solo exhibition of drawings and sculptural works by Peter Kolisnyk
A solo exhibition of drawings and sculptural works by Peter Kolisnyk will open at the Alberta College of Art Gallery, Thursday, February 7, 1980, at 8:00 p .m.
Mr. Kolisnyk's works of reductive geometric purity fall into the artistic category generally termed as "minimalism". Included in the exhibition are pen and ink drawings; wall installations of lacquered wood and heavy drawing board; and monumental "outlines" of welded steel. Each piece exists not only as a self-contained object of beauty and elegance, but also acts as a visual catalyst, encouraging the viewer to explore and experience the surrounding environment.
Peter Kolisnyk, who lives in Cobourg, Ontario, is one of Canada's major sculptors, and was an invited participant in the International Sculpture Symposium held in Toronto in 1978. He has exhibited widely in Ontario and internationally for twenty years. A major exhibition of Kolisnvk's work was circulated across Canada by the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, in 1977-78.
