Topic 1 | Introduction to AR/VR

An overview of the types of technology being used and current trends.

Topic 2 | Critical thinking and bias in design

Learn the characteristics of a critical thinker including how to understand and mitigate bias.

Topic 3 | Meaningful decisions and random interaction

Learn the phases of design thinking and ideation methods.

Topic 4 | The process for researching, building and testing

How to identify needs, draft your elevator pitch and prototyping.

Topic 5 | Fundamentals of good game design

Methods for ideation, how to plan and understand the users state of mind.

Topic 6 | Project skills

Learn project management software and techniques to bring your project to completion.

This course is delivered online in a scheduled, live format, allowing you to participate in real-time virtual classroom sessions with our delivery partner. This format is ideal for those who benefit from structured learning, real-time feedback and collaborative engagement.

Course completion

This non-credit course runs twice per week for four consecutive weeks, combining live virtual classes with graded assignments and assessments. Weekly assignments must be submitted on schedule, and learners will begin developing their final project midway through the course, applying new concepts as they progress. After the final class, participants may have an additional few days to refine and submit their project. To successfully complete the course and earn a digital badge, you must achieve an overall grade of 70% or higher.

Course requirements

  • Laptop or desktop computer with keyboard (with a graphics card that supports direct x 11 or 12)
  • Microphone, speakers and camera
  • A stable internet connection
  • Office 365

Recommended: Intermediate to advanced microsoft office skills and experience with internet research. Previous design or project management experience is an asset, but not mandatory.
