Join TREX Southwest on Wednesday, February 16th at 6pm until 7pm for an artist talk and Q&A panel. This event will highlight the practices of three emerging photographers who were awarded the TREX Southwest travelling exhibition award - an annual award granted in partnership with the Exposure Emerging Photographer Showcase, which began in 2020.
The three awardees, Liam Kavanagh-Bradette, Nahanni McKay and AUArts Alum Joel Matthew Warkentin, BFA '16 Sculpture will talk about their experiences as emerging photographers and present their series of photographs which are now on tour with the TREX travelling exhibition program, being exhibited at a new venue in Alberta every month for a two-year term.
Artists Liam Kavanagh-Bradette and Nahanni McKay are both part of an exhibition titled ‘Habituate, Acclimate’ featuring two separate series of works both exploring the human footprint on ecology and the land. Artist Joel Matthew Warkentin’s series ‘The Nameless Boy who gave his name to Sunday’ is travelling as a solo exhibition featuring a series of photographs that investigate human spirituality through curious and playful interactions with abstract sculptures - the interactions are thoughtfully photographed with careful attention to shape and form.
The zoom link to this event will be shared one day prior to the event, and registration for this event closes on February 15, at noon.
This event is part of Exposure Photography Festival 2022
