Natali Rodrigues (Associate Professor, Glass)
In the fleeting moment between knowing and unknowing, being and unbeing, creation and destruction, there exists a spark—a luminous threshold that bridges worlds. My artwork is an exploration of these liminal spaces, where recognition, inspiration, and joy ignite the human spirit. Like the flash of electricity between conductors, my art seeks to capture the instant when understanding arcs from the internal to the external, from non-existence to manifestation. These sparks are the essence of connection, comprehension, and presence, inviting viewers to experience moments of surprise and revelation. Drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, I find profound metaphor in the process of mitosis. As a cell divides, it embodies the very threshold I seek to illuminate—a spark of life, simultaneously separating and connecting. This biological dance of division and renewal offers a reassuring rhythm in our chaotic world, reminding us that transformation is an inherent part of existence. My creative process begins with exploratory drawings and glass maquettes, metabolizing experiences from pilgrimages to spiritually and historically significant landscapes. The objects and drawing in this exhibition, born from journeys to the Hawaiian Archipelago and Uluru in Australia, are investigations of these charged environments. Through my art, I invite you to witness the spark of recognition, to feel the surge of inspiration, and to embrace the joy of discovery. In that moment between here and there, inside and outside, my work aims to kindle a connection—a shared spark of being that illuminates the profound in the everyday.

A sudden spark of joy revealing hidden pathways, unsuspected possibilities, and new perspectives. Delight dancing in the imagination, energy pouring from the brush, twinkling and gleaming, work growing from a single glimmer to fill a canvas. Color piling on color, layer on layer, each painting slowly evolves on its own terms. The show is a sparkling invitation to explore the art through several mediums. It has been a joyful journey and we have the privilege to share it with you.
