The Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for a creative and organized Public Programming and Outreach Assistant to provide support to the Illingworth Kerr Gallery operations and exhibition programming.
This is a casual position commencing December 2022 until June 30, 2022. Hours of work will be approximately 28 hours per week Monday – Friday.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Academic Resources and accountable to the Exhibitions and Programs Coordinator and Educational Art Technician – Exhibitions Preparator (IKG), the Public Programming and Outreach Assistant provides support to gallery operations and exhibition programming including. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in partnership development, program planning and promotions, event management and logistics, content uploads for website/social media, budget tracking, gallery maintenance and other tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Exhibitions and Programs Coordinator with building community and partner relationships.

Assist with the research and development of public programs and events.

Assist in establishing measurable objectives, monitoring event budgets, timelines, and other aspects of the event project, ensuring events are delivered on time, within budget and with a high degree of guest and visitor satisfaction.

Assist with website management and content creation and uploads.

Provides support and assistance as directed for the general maintenance of gallery and prep facilities and equipment. Responsible for the safe handling of artwork, equipment, tools, materials and supplies as required.

Correspond with vendor and service providers

Track statistical information for events and assist in producing post-event reports and grant reporting.

Other gallery, support or administrative and preparatory duties for the Illingworth Kerr Gallery as required.
The successful candidate will have:

Minimum BFA or BDes from an accredited institution. Must have graduated within the past three years.

Demonstrated interest in contemporary art, art history, public programming, community outreach, or other relevant fields.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Wordpress applications.

Excellent communication skills.

Excellent problem solving, organization, and planning skills with a strong attention to detail.

Basic knowledge of craft, fine art and design studio practice and/or gallery preparatory skills.
Compensation:
This position pays an hourly rate of $17.51 plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation. As this position is casual in nature, there will be no guarantee of hours or a regular schedule.
