Call for AUArts Students | VIVID Mural Project

Alberta University of the Arts' students are invited to submit an application to work alongside an Alumni creating "Changing Perceptions", the 2022 VIVID Mural Project.

In celebration of our third year as Alberta University of the Arts, we have commissioned Alum Sylvia Arthur, Dip '82, Visual Communication Design to create 2-D artworks in two outdoor, recessed, multi-angled spaces. Viewed from different angles, created on surfaces with unique perspectives and different sizes, you can change perceptions through creativity.

We are looking for two AUArts students to assist creating the project in the two outdoor recessed, multi-angled spaces as you enter the AUArts campus on the ground floor of the parkade. Each student will receive a $500 honorarium.

The mural will be a combination of crisp geometric patterns over abstract background colours that will create a distorted perspective into the multi-angled spaces, taking advantage of the unique wall shapes and angles. A pair of eyes will be the central element of the artwork, symbolizing the theme "Changing Perceptions".

The mural medium will be a combination of soft edge spray painting with painted brushwork and/or roller painted colour in the details and geometric shapes.

This opportunity is open to all AUArts current students registered for Fall 2022. The mural will be created in July and students must be available during that time.

Submit an application:
