About IKG:
The Illingworth Kerr Gallery (IKG), as part of the Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) provides a platform for curated exhibitions and other forms of cultural research production, with a focus on contemporary visual culture. A vital part of AUArt’s Office of Research and Academic Affairs, it supports graduate and undergraduate learning, provides a rich mix of public programming, and participates in global dialogue by hosting local, regional and international artists working in a variety of disciplines.

Tuesday - Friday: 11-6pm
Saturday: 12-4pm
Position description:
Student Gallery Attendants are primarily responsible for activating the gallery spaces, engaging visitors, offering information about exhibitions, answering questions and completing administrative tasks as required. Candidate must be a current returning student.
Tasks and duties include:

Open and close the gallery

Operate equipment specific to the exhibition as per exhibition requirements

Complete regular gallery maintenance including sweeping, paint touch ups and condition reporting.

Track attendance and administer visitor surveys

Be knowledgeable on the exhibition, works and artist(s), provide orientation on the exhibition and gallery tours if requested

Greet visitors, answer or direct visitor inquiries

Ensure visitors follow gallery rules and etiquette with respect to touching works, food and drink

Report to Security immediately any unsafe conditions, or incidents which place visitors, the gallery or exhibition works at risk

Assist with event preparation, and other gallery clerical duties as assigned such as completing forms and stuffing envelopes
