Attila Richard Lukacs and Michael Morris
Polaroids showcases over 3000 polaroid photographs taken by acclaimed Canadian painter Attila Richard Lukacs over the past twenty years. While internationally renowned for his monumental canvases, Lukacs has always produced these small, intimate works alongside his paintings.
In a unique artistic collaboration, fellow artist Michael Morris has sorted, sequenced, selected and assembled these polaroids for inclusion in the exhibition. Responding to the seriality and narrative potential embedded in the images, Morris has employed the simple thematic an organizational schema of the grid to create vibrant, visual essays that trace Lukacs’ work with the live model. It is a unique exhibition that reveals a body of work by an internationally recognized artist that has rarely been seen before and offers an extraordinary view into Lukacs’ ongoing study of the human form.
