Do I still cross your mind?

August Klintberg

Curator: Tatiana Mellema

Do I still cross your mind? is a solo exhibition providing an overview of recent works by the Montreal based artist August Klintberg. The show brings together pieces in installation, drawing, and photography, as well as two newly commissioned works produced by the artist while in residence at the Alberta College of Art + Design.

Klintberg's practice is cross disciplinary, using a range of mediums from sculpture, text, and printmaking, to newer explorations in fibre, photography, and sound. Primarily performative installations, his works invite a participatory play with audiences that challenge boundaries of production and spectatorship. Always responding to a particular time and place he harnesses the critical potential of the personal and intimate by re-positioning these experiences in revealing public contexts.

August Klintberg is an artist, writer and curator who currently maintains a studio practice, and is a PhD. candidate in the Department of Art History at Concordia University. He has shown in institutions across Canada and in the United States, and has been commissioned to produce works for the Walter Phillips Gallery, the Harbourfront Centre, and the Art Gallery of Alberta. Public and private collections throughout North America, including the National Gallery of Canada, have acquired his work.

As graduate of the Alberta College of Art + Design, the Illingworth Kerr Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of August Klintberg’s work as part of the gallery’s first Bi-annual Alumni in Focus Exhibition Series.

A limited edition audio work Quiet Disco produced as a series of vinyl records by the artist for the exhibition, will be available for sale through the Illingworth Kerr Gallery.
