Brett Robinson Kilroe Scholarship for International Studies
Brett Robinson Kilroe was loved and admired by all who knew him because of how he cared for people, and how much he lived for music and the art and visuals that expressed it.
Although cancer is what brought Brett’s life to an end on March 24, 2016, it did not define who he was. Upon his graduation from Alberta University of the Arts in 1993, Brett was granted a scholarship to attend the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City. Leaving his homeland and establishing himself in a new country gave Brett the confidence to pursue his dream of working in the music industry to the fullest, while also solidifying his appreciation for his upbringing and the institutions that made his journey possible.
During his career, Brett made extraordinary contributions to the field of art direction and graphic design and was recognized with several awards including a Grammy nomination. Brett collaborated with artists including Kings of Leon, The Strokes and the Alabama Shakes and helped to shape their visual identities. The Brett Robinson Kilroe Scholarship for International Studies was established by Brett’s colleagues and friends to honour his memory and to inspire the next generation of students at Alberta University of the Arts to reach a little farther.
