President of Trico Communities, he holds a BComm and MBA from top Canadian universities. He has a life-long passion for the homebuilding industry and is driven by the TRICO principle of “doing well by doing good”.
In this role, he oversees asset and property management which includes strategy, investments, rental, senior living, and commercial divisions for Trico Communities. Patrick continues to educate himself by enrolling in various courses and programs for family enterprises and businesses to assist in Trico’s success.
Influenced by family values and ideals set by Wayne and Eleanor, Patrick shares a passion for investment in the Calgary community, and quickly became involved with the Trico Charitable Foundation. Launched in 2008, the Trico Charitable Foundation was a way to combine the Chiu’s passion for social entrepreneurship with their desire to make a social impact. Patrick is the chair of the NU Community Board, which provides awards of best practices for student social entrepreneurs and their organizations, with the vision of these students entering the social enterprise ecosystem. As of 2022, the NU Community board has awarded over $150,000 to student social entrepreneurs in Alberta and across Canada. Patrick also provides his time as the Chair of the Board of the Directors for Stile Interiors, Chair for the Dean’s Strategic Advisory Committee, Chiu School of Business at the
Bow Valley College.
