ALTARS with Alexa Bunnell

Come join a fun workshop with Alexa, where you'll create a hand-built altar!

Join Alexa Bunnell (BFA '19, Ceramics) to learn how to build a ceramic altar that can hold magickal trinkets and be installed on your wall. We'll explore creating various forms through carving and hand-building, all while keeping the installation methods for your altar in mind. Finally, you’ll learn how to transfer drawings and designs to your altars for decorating!

On the last day, you will get to choose from a combination of glazes and experiment with glaze layering. We will have test tiles to give you a visual and what to expect for the finished results.

Day one, Dec. 6 @ 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM:

• Alexa will start with a demonstration on how to begin designing your altar.
• You will design and construct your altar on the first day.

Day two, Dec. 7 @ 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM:

• Alexa will start with a demonstration on how to begin decorating your altar using underglaze and image transfer techniques.
• You will decorate your altar and complete it on the second day.
• You will get to pick which glaze combinations you want for your finished piece.
